Reduce frost-heave
around manholes and drain traps
Frost-heave around
manholes and drain traps often does damage to
a city’s roads, leaving many
conceptual designers and contractors at a loss.
Tex-O-Flex 40-12 is the solution. Composed of a
geotextile and a PVC membrane laminated together,
this geocomposite’s smooth surface wraps
around the manhole and creates two separate units,
reducing surface changes.
The internal geotextile is
in permanent contact with the manhole, acting
as a drainage layer whose
role is to evacuate water that seeps between
the manhole and the geomembrane. The
exterior PVC membrane is laminated to the geotextile.
It prevents soil particles from working
their way
in at the joints, and its low friction coefficient
prevents the manhole from moving with the surrounding
soil.
Tex-O-Flex installs easily in just one
step. At least 30 cm of overlap is necessary,
and
the product
must be secured with ropes or fasteners.
The product must be placed flush with the top
of
the concrete.
We also recommend laying a granular material
around the manhole over a 30 cm radius. Compaction
must
be performed in 30 cm layers.
Tex-O-Flex
is available in widths of 1.78 m.
