ADS Inc. was founded in 1977 as an engineering consultancy. Over the years, our growth and management strategies have evolved to keep pace with emerging business opportunities. Today, we’re known as a leading provider of specialized nonwoven materials.

Here are major business highlights from ADS and its subsidiaries.

2009 Redemption of TSX shares and privatization of the company.
2007 ADS acquires Beckwith Bemis a company specialized in the manufacturing of specialized polymer coated materials.
2006

Texel becomes a division of ADS Inc.

2005

Sales of the subsidiaries Marquez Transtech Ltd., ADS Composites of Mexico, S.A. de C.V., and ADS Composites Services, S.A. de C.V., as well as the Plessisville and Sainte-Clotilde plants, have now been completed.

Entering the final stages of selling the Thetford Mines plant. Transaction expected to be completed during the first quarter of 2005–2006.

2004

Exit composite materials market.
Sale of Terrebonne plant, wich specialized in watercraft hull.

2003 New specialized nonwoven materials strategy announced.
Sale of Terrebonne facility to Camoplast Inc.
2002

Composite materials developments:

  • Acquisition of fiberglass plant from Volvo Buses of Mexico, S.A. de C.V.
  • Mexico subsidiary established.
2001

Increased Texel holdings to 100%.

2000 Increased Marquez Transtech Ltd. holdings to 100%.
1999 Mergers and restructuring in composite materials sector; ADS Composites Group Inc. formed.
1998 G.L.T. Pattern Works Inc. majority acquisition.
1997 Vermont facilities opened (wholly owned subsidiary: New England Composites Inc.).Tribo air filtration fabric launched.
1996

Expansion in composites materials sector:

  • Marquez Transtech Ltd. majority acquisition
  • Pultrall Inc. majority acquisition
  • Centre d’Étude des Matériaux Plastiques Bélanger Ltd. acquisition
  • Fibrex Composites Inc. acquisition
1995 TM Composites Inc. Acquisition.
First US subsidiary: Texel USA in North Carolina.
1993 Tex-R fabric launched. Innovative root and weed barrier for farms and nurseries.
1986 ADS becomes a public company listed on the Montreal Stock Exchange.
1978 ADS Incorporated under the Canada Business Corporations Act.
